New Beginnings

I love spring. I mean who doesn't? If there is such a person I don't think I want to know them. Harsh words but true. One of the many reasons I love spring is it's a season of rebirth and renewal. Every year around March I think that winter is never going to end. I think something has happened to the seasons and I will be stuck in an endless winter. Just when I'm about to give up all hope and settle into the ice age, overnight little buds start popping out and the daffodils bloom. When I see that my heart sings, I have a pep in my step, and the world seems so much nicer. Everyone is happier. Even though I have no statistical evidence I do believe less murders happen in the spring. It just makes sense.

Reason for spring fever

The reason for all these musings is I'm starting a new chapter in my life. No, I'm not pregnant. I have a new job! Some of you may know I have been very unhappy in my now previous job. A door opened and I am now assistant event coordinator at the War Memorial Chapel at Virginia Tech (whew! That's a mouthful!) I won't go into details but my unhappiness in my previous job was definitely affecting my life outside of work. I know no job is perfect but I'm so thankful for this new beginning. (Fun Fact: War Memorial Chapel is where Scott and I got married.) I've only worked one day so far but I'm thankful that God gave me a fresh start. The schedule is flexible and I get Thanksgiving and Christmas off which is fabulous! I'll be busy in the summer with weddings but I'm so excited to be doing something I want to do. So those are the deets peeps! How fitting that my new beginning starts with the beginning of spring?

What do you hope spring brings for you?

  1. Less murders happen in spring you say?

Well, I would like to support your theory in one sense. There is less murder because the most crime, in this case murder, occurs in the hottest months. So, from this notion, July and August are the hottest months which mean the most crime occur then. This makes sense because more people are out and about, more outside activities occur, etc. More people, more crime. With this in mind, there is less murder in Spring than in the Summer months. (This differs for other crimes just so ya know.)

Winter does not mean there is no crime it just means there is less opportunity to people to commit crimes. They are trying to stay home and keep warm. Most crime is hindered by inclement weather! HA... I know that it would keep you home.

Also, congrats on your new job! I had a phone date with Katie this past week and she let me know! I am so glad you were able to get it! :D
We need a phone date... :D Congrats love!

p.s. If you are interested in this crime and weather correlation. There are numerous sociological studies that focus on this notion:
