we are not hikers

A couple of weeks ago, I decided Scott and I were boring. I felt like our date nights were comprised of: go out to eat, rent a movie, and be in bed by 11pm. I brought this up with Scott. He seemed satisfied with the arrangement. I obviously was not. He asked what else I had in mind. I said I don't know.... why don't we go hiking? His reply: "We are NOT hikers." Ok then. Moving on. haha! I left it at that.

Our next date night, Scott tells me we are going to hike the Cascades. Even though that wasn't necessarily his idea of fun, we were going because he knew I wanted to go. He is so thoughtful and selfless. Anyway, we hiked to the Cascades and it was beautiful. We kind of booked it because we got a late start and I was paranoid about being there after dark, so we didn't get to really enjoy the actual hike. Afterwards, we went to the Palisades in Eggleston, Va to eat. I also had been wanting to go there (Go Scott!). The food was amazing and if you are ever in this neck of the woods I would highly recommend it. We had homemade pomegranate ice cream for dessert, which was to die for! Sincewe ate the ice cream before the end of summer I got to check that off my summer fun list. I love to check things off lists!

yup.

Fast forward a couple of weeks. Scott and I hiked to McAfee's Knob in Catawba, Va. We had a great time but it kicked our out of shape butts! It was right under eight miles round trip but worth the view. As with our last hiking outing, we decided to follow our exertion with food. Duh. We planned on eating at the Homeplace in Catawba but it was packed and we didn't want to wait. Instead, we heading to Pine Tavern in Floyd, Va. It is similar to the Homeplace, it is a family style dining experience with southern food. Floyd and Catawba are not very close together though. I'm sure we would have gotten a seat sooner at the Homeplace but we were impatient. When we finally got to the Pine Tavern, we ate SO much food and it was amazing!

Two hikes just over two weeks. We are totally hikers.

summer fun list

Happy Monday to all! I have to admit I'm a little tired today. Scott and I got in late last night from a trip to Georgia. Traveling just wears me out. I feel like I need a day to recoup! Anyway, while we were in the car Scott and I developed a summer fun list. It is a list of things we want to do while he is out of school. Some are pretty simple and others not so much. I'm putting this on here so hopefully we will have some sort of accountability. So here goes...

1.) Go to the beach
2.) Eat watermelon
3.) Make popsicles (We used to make them all the time when I was little)
4.) Go camping
5.) Actually use the pool in our neighborhood.
6.) Eat homemade ice cream
7.) Go to a baseball game (Preferably major league)
8.) Regularly go on evening strolls
9.) Make real lemonade
10.) Watch Zoolander (Scott's request)
11.) Grill out pizza (Another Scott request)
12.) Give our house a little TLC

That's all we have for now. We might add to it, we might not. I'm a little concerned about number four. We'll see how that goes. Do you have a summer fun list?

I will say adieu for now and leave you with the below picture....

Eat - Sleep - Repeat.

Scott and I just recently got back from our vacation to Folly Beach, SC. We had a wonderful time and we were only 15 minutes from Charleston. It was the best of both worlds, a city and a beach! We did what people mostly do on vacation, we ate and we slept... and it was awesome! Really, that's not all we did. We did some sight seeing which, worked up an appetite so we ate some more.   Here are few pictures from when we weren't sleeping and eating.

Day 1: Get some sun!

If you are ever looking for Scott at the beach look for a burly guy with an old man hat and lots of chest hair. You can't miss him!
It's a tradition for us to eat Italian for our anniversary. I mean we've only had two but it's definitely a tradition.
St. Philips Episcopal Church, Downtown Charleston
Scott thinks it's weird that I like old cemeteries but, what can I say, I do!
Morris Island Lighthouse.
Rainbow Row

King Street. Sweet.

I love this.

We can all guess what he was getting at!

Great balls of fire!

For immature audiences only...

Scott and I visited my sister in Washington D.C. for the Fourth of July. Needless to say, it was hot and crowded. ( I don't know why we expected anything else. The fourth is kind of a big deal.) We had a good time and Scott, an aspiring urologist, found a new hobby for when we travel. Take a look at the photos below to see for yourself.

Scott means no disrespect. He thinks the male, er...uh, organ to be a thing of beauty and should be depicted in art accordingly.
